Talk about cooking, wood smoke, equipment, recipes, sides, competitions, events, and time around the pit. Politics, religion, and unrelated arguments belong elsewhere.

Help people learn.

No belittling, bullying, harassment, threats, hate, or personal attacks. Correct a technique respectfully. Never shame someone for their question, budget, equipment, or experience.

Many ways to cook low and slow.

Wood smoke and fire are at our heart. Offset smokers, pellet grills, charcoal kettles, and regular grills with a smoke tray are welcome. Share what works without declaring someone less welcome because of how they cook.

Share honestly.

Post your own work or give credit and use material you have permission to share. No scams, spam, deceptive promotions, or impersonation. Explain any commercial connection when recommending a product.

Respect privacy.

Keep private messages and invite-only event details private. Do not share someone else’s personal information without permission. Respect a block or a declined invitation.

Report problems. Don’t pile on.

Use Report on the content, message, or member profile. Explain what happened. Reports are reviewed by moderators; reporter identities and private notes are not shown publicly. For private-message reports, moderators see the reported message, not the whole inbox.

A little breathing room for new accounts.

During your first seven days, extra limits apply to posting, messages, friend requests, invitations, edits, and repeated web links. If you reach a limit, the site will explain when to try again. You can still browse, report problems, and block someone.

How moderation works.

Moderators review context and record a reason for each decision. They may dismiss a report, hide content or a profile, issue a warning, suspend an account for 1, 3, 7, or 30 days, or ban an account. Serious harm can result in an immediate ban. Moderators do not rewrite your contributions.

Warnings appear in Account notices. Suspensions block account access until they expire; bans block account access indefinitely. Historical contributions are not automatically deleted.
